If autism were a flower

If autism were a flower

Would it be a rose

soft and delicate,

protected by teeth?

How about a wild

purple Rhododendron

that blooms

on its own terms?

Bright and

unstoppable

like a big laughing

sunflower?

Or Morning glory,

that can dance towards the sun

but weed a field of friends.

Mine would be

a cup of flour, expecting the

unexpected.
